I loved coming across this page, thank you...my Grandmother was Lillian Schassen Hess Tanya Hess Wethered vancouver, Washington April 18th, 2017 at 11:08 AM (PDT) I am looking for Von Schassen ties to Buffalo New York in the late 1800s. My great grandfather was a Vonschassen who had several older siblings. He was given up for adoption as an infant when his mother (my great-great grandmother) died. If you can give me any information, I would appreciate it. Congratulations for doing such a nice job. I also ran across another website that I thought might be of interest to you. http://haygenealogy.com/hay/football/footballac.html I had heard the story that my uncle Gus/Hank had played football in the Washington DC area during the 30’s. Well, I guess this might be confirmation of that story. It appears from this site that “Chassin, Schussen, Schasser, and Schassen” (depending on how they were spelling his name that week for the newspaper) played as a lineman for the 1934 Maryland Athletic Club football team. Does anyone in the picture look familiar? My choice is in the back row, but my memory is not as good as it used to be. I didn’t know if you had this information or not, but I thought it would be of interest if you didn’t.
